Itinerary

DAY 1 ARRIVE IN LHASA                                                               Thangka Hotel Lhasa

Your exciting journey begins as you land in Lhasa Gonggar Airport. Private transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day allows you to rest and acclimate to the high-mountain altitude of this fascinating city.

DAY 2 LHASA                                                                                      Thangka Hotel Lhasa

Visit Norbulinka, summer retreat for Dalai Lama. Tour Jokhang Temple, the most celebrated temple in Tibet, which was often referred to by early Western visitors as Lhasa’s cathedral. Your sightseeing today also includes visit to Ani Tsankhung Nunnery and the colorful Barkhor Street Bazaar.  MEAL: B,L 

DAY 3 LHASA                                                                                           Thangka Hotel Lhasa

The highlight of your stay in Lhasa is the visit to Potala Palace. Visit Sera Monastery in the afternoon and observing an interesting monk debating. Rest of the day is free for you to explore the city on your own.  MEAL: B,L

DAY 4 LHASA-GYANTSE- SHIGATSE                                          Shigatse Hotel

Ascend to 15,680 feet through the Kanbala Pass with great views over Yamdrok Yumtso Lake. Visit Palkhor Monastery and continue to the Shigatse. En route visit a local Tibetan Family.  Meal: B,L,D

DAY 5 SHIGATSE-SHEGAR                                                               Dingri Qumulangma Hotel

Visit Tashihunpo Monastery and see the Buddhist frescoes of Sakya Monastery. Drive to Shegar, also known as New Tingri. The journey involves crossing two high passes Tropu La (16,236ft) and Gyatso La (17,122 ft).settle in to the Dingri Qumulangma Hotel; though simple, it’s the best in town.  Meal: B,L,D

DAY 6 MT.EVERST BASE CAMP                                                       Dingri Qumulangma Hotel

Arise early to visit Rongbuk Monastery; set against the North Face of Everest, it’s the highest temple in the world. Continue to Mt. Everest Base Camp where you’ll have time to revel in this unforgettable experience. Mail a postcard from the world’s highest post office.  Meal: B,L,D

DAY 7 SHEGAR-ZHANGMU                                                           Zhangmu Hotel

An unforgettable overland journey through remote high-mountain landscapes brings you to Zhangmu, the last Chinese frontier town. Meal: B,L,D

DAY 8 ZHANGMU-KODARI-NAGARKOT                                               The Fort Resort

Complete Chinese customs and immigration formalities at Friendship Bridge where you switch the guide and vehicle. Drive to Nagarkot, the road passing through villages, and terraced farmlands. If it’s a clear weather day, we will be greeted by views of the gleaming Himalayan Peaks.  Meal: B

DAY 9 NAGARKOT-KATHMANDU                                                            Hotel Shanker

Sunset and sunrise views from Nagarkot are special and not to be missed. Enjoy the special view of sunrise. If the weather permits, you will have spectacular views of the eastern to middle range of Himalayas. After breakfast, take a light walk to the village and hills of Nagarkot. Proceed to Kathmandu en-route visit Bhaktapur -the best preserved medieval Malla Principality. Bhaktapur served as the capital of United Nepal before it split in to three kingdoms (Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur) in the mid-14th century drive to visit Pashupatinath Temple, the holiest Hindu Temple on the bank of sacred Bagmati River which is also one of the tributaries of holy Ganges. From here we continue on to Boudhanath Stupa , the biggest Buddhist stupa in the world! The stupa is believed to be one of the “must visit” site for all Buddhists in their lifetime.   Meal: B

DAY 10 KATHMANDU                                                                           Hotel Shanker

Journey into the tranquil Nepalese countryside to Patan, a city that will captivate you with its art and architecture. Visit Durbar Square, Parvati Temple and Hamuman Dhoka, the ancient royal quarter. Meal: B

DAY 11 DEPARTURES

You are transferred to the airport for your flight to next destination.  Meal: B
