1. Introduction to Mount Fuji
• Location: Central Honshu, Japan, spanning Shizuoka and Yamanashi Prefectures
• Altitude: 3,776 meters, Japan’s highest peak
• World Heritage: 2013
• Symbolism: Mount Fuji is a symbol of Japan and an important theme in art, literature and religion
season of mountain climbing
• Official hiking season: early July to early September (facilities are fully open and suitable for hiking) •
• Non-hiking season: due to snow and bad weather, hiking is not recommended
Main Mount Fuji Hiking Routes:
1. Fujinomiya Pass: The shortest route, taking 5–7 hours with steep slopes.
2. Yoshida Pass: Offers the most facilities, is relatively easy, and is the favorite among international visitors.
3. Sotobuchi Pass: Quiet with fewer hikers, and the descent features a gravel path.
4. Gotemba Pass: The longest and most challenging route.
This itinerary follows the Fujinomiya Pass route, the shortest but requiring better stamina.
